When we were tasked with reviewing the GetSafe home security system, the best we can say is that it’s not too shabby. Is that a complement? Not really – there are a lot of pros and cons to consider.
While there is a no contract option, which is a definite plus, the GetSafe home security system requires monthly monitoring services, which average to about $35 a month. Without the monthly fee, you’d get no customizations, no smart rules, no integration with other z wave devices, no backup 3G signal, and no ifttt integrations. Which basically means, if you want a camera and home security system from GetSafe, you have to pay the monthly fee.
Additionally, The GetSafe home kit is really best for small apartments. They claim to move with you, and they do, they even include extra tape to hang it to your new walls. What they don’t include are range extenders or more cameras and sensors.
Did we mention that their concept of “growing along with you” is to include additional strips of tape for when you move to a new apartment or home? .
Don’t be fooled by their promise to grow with you- they’ll grow just as big as the pile of money you throw at them. While they have great features such as backup batteries and cellular data so the cameras won’t go down when the WiFi does, there are many features not included, and many disappointments that are. They have a disorganized and subpar camera experience and a lack of commitment to king term pricing, which isn’t comforting.
All in all, the system is easy to install and maintain, and a major pro is the lack of annual contract. However, it’s pricey and a disorganized, and it’s not for you if you Live in even a medium sized apartment.
